Hey, dear friends! Have you ever been confused about programming the hygger 957 aquarium light? In this article, we will get into a specific introduction about how to set a light timer with the hygger 957 aquarium light.
Features of hygger 957 aquarium light
1. Suitable for various tank sizes
The 957 is suitable for tank sizes from 12-55 inches long. Provided your tank size is within this range, it is feasible to choose the hygger 957 for your aquarium.
2. Waterproof
The hygger 957 aquarium light features a waterproof grade of IP68, high light transmittance, easy to clean, as well as pure and transparent light. Moreover, although used for the long term, it will not decay. It possesses a long lifespan of tens of thousands of hours, at least 50,000 hours.
3. Separable and security adapter
It prevents replacing the LED light because of adapter damage. If the light flashes and then becomes dim, there may be a power problem. For such a case, you should replace the adapter.
4. Extendable bracket
The bending bracket is extendable and can be adjusted in length. Meanwhile, it is easy to install as a fish tank hood.
5. Power off the memory function
Provided that the power is suddenly shut off, once the power is restored, the settings of the light remain before closing the power. And the local time of the light defaults to 24:00.
6. High-quality light
The rendering index is up to 89 percent. With soft irradiated light, your eyes get protected. Besides that, the stable and more natural light is beneficial to fish in your aquarium. Furthermore, the high-quality lamp beads of the 2835+5050 model are applied.
7. High efficient heat dissipation
The fin design and aluminum with 0.05 inches thick improve the heat dissipation area. One more thing you should notice here. The aluminum surface of the aquarium light will appear heat, that is because there is a heat dissipation sticker between the lamp bead and the aluminum material, but there is no gap. However, the heat will not be stored in the light, but rather be radiated outside directly. Since the residual heat will damage the lamp beads, decay the light, and even damage the power supply.
8. Multiple brightness change
There are 10 adjustable brightness, which simulate the effect of sunrise to sunset. It can brighten the fish. On the other hand, it promotes photosynthesis, accordingly, the aquatic plants in your aquarium get better living conditions.
9. LCD operation
The display shows the local time, which is accurate to the second. In addition to this, the display also shows the start and end times of daylight and moonlight mode. There are also four buttons, including mode setting, up, down, and light setting buttons.

I got this light under the impression from the description I could program it to slowly come on with light with light in the morning at 7 am and slowly go to a brighter white light by 10 am. By 5 I wanted it to start going over into a blue night and then by 7 it would be set for night time blue. But your directions are so confusing I can’t get to where I want in the programming. These defeats the gradual light process that I wanted for my 30 gallon tank. While I’m pleased with the lights I’m very unhappy it’s not automatic because my fish are bothered by the non smooth transition of lights.
Hi Rhonda,
You can set it in the DIY mode via the 10 brightness.
Set the beginning time at 7 am L1 with white light 10%, L2 30% at 8 am, L3 50% at 9 am, L 4 100% at 10 am, L5 and L6 100% during 10 am to 6:55 pm.
The L7 and L8 is blue light, you can set L7 beginning at 5 pm, and L8 at 7 pm, don’t forget to set the close time during your needs.
Thanks

This is an incredibly counter-intuitive programming interface. Why on earth didn’t you hire someone to design something that works? Or at the very least, someone to write a manual that doesn’t talk in circles. The light I think I like. We’ll see how it does once I fine tune the controls.

I have found this to be the most frustrating programing for a light I have ever seen. The instructions are weak at best. I have messed with this light for months now and i still do not have it programed correctly. Do you have other instructions? I want it to come on at 8:00AM and Off at 8:45 pm. Not difficult but i have found it to be.
Hi Carrie Bunce,
You can get the hygger 957 instruction here.

I just received a 12-18″ aquarium light. I can turn it on and off. It does put off a nice spectrum and I like the nice gradients available. However, I also am having programming issues. So I came online, read and watched videos. After following your online instructions, it just doesn’t do what it’s supposed to when I press the buttons. Also, if I’m holding it, the lights just turn to red or blue without pressing anything. Itll just change from white to red or blue. Also, after being on for a short time, yes, I can turn it to on, the top and sides gets quite hot to the touch. Now, I have several aquariums and although the transformers do tend to get warm, it doesn’t seem to do anything. This gets much hotter than other lights, even my big name lights. So is this normal or should I have this item replace?
Hi Elle,

I have not been able to set up my Hygger 957. It’s set to go on at 9:30 AM and off at 1:00 PM. And again from 4-8 PM. At 2:00 it’s still on. I have tried for days to program it. I will be returning it. Hopefully I can find another Hygger light that: 1) easier to program, 2) won’t have to reset when I loose power and 3) will grow plants in a 55 gallon aquarium. I have swords, crypts, Val and frogbit. I was excited about the 957 because I thought it had enough PAR to make my plants grow.
Hi Charles Valis, actually, the 957 is the light suitable for your tank. And you need to program it in the DIY mode.
hygger exclusive customer service will mail you via [email protected] for the accurate program for your tank.
Please check your mail in time.
