The hygger Aquarium Auto Top-Off Kit monitors water levels and automatically replenishes freshwater in aquariums to compensate for evaporated water. It ensures stable water and salinity levels, particularly in marine environments, with a built-in safety feature to prevent tank overflow. The kit’s functions and alerts are indicated by colored LEDs and warning signals, making it an ideal solution for reef, saltwater, and freshwater aquariums.
Automatic Water Refill System:
The ATO (Automatic Top-Off) device is triggered when the water level falls below the detection point, sending a signal to activate the water pump and refill the aquarium through the ‘LOWER LIMIT’ function. Once the water level reaches the preset mark, the system will automatically cease water intake using the ‘UPPER LIMIT’ function.
Overfill Prevention:
The ATO system is equipped with a top sensor that detects high water levels. In the event of a malfunction, it provides visual and auditory alerts with a flashing LED light and beeping sounds. It automatically deactivates the water pump when the water level surpasses the preset maximum top-off level, preventing overfilling.
Dual Fail-Safe Design:
The hygger Auto Top-Off Kit includes a controller and a magnetic suction cup, with the suction cup mounted on the inside and the controller on the outside of the aquarium. Once aligned with the desired water level detection line, power is supplied to the controller to initiate monitoring. The kit also features an external sensor that tracks the water level in the reservoir, ensuring the pump is safeguarded against running dry due to water depletion.
DC-powered Water Pump:
Included is a mini DC-powered water pump with a flexible hose. It can efficiently transfer water from a container with a maximum head height of 2 meters. The pump has a maximum lift of 4.9 feet, ensuring the vertical distance from the pump to the aquarium does not exceed this height. It can also remove dirty water from the tank, boasting a flow rate of 74 gallons per hour (GPH).
Secure the Hose Firmly:
Ensure the 5.9ft flexible water hose is positioned above the waterline for both rimmed and rimless aquariums with thicknesses up to 3/4 inch. This placement prevents siphoning from occurring when the pump is turned off.
External Sensor Placement:
Attach the external sensor to the aquarium wall, or immerse it directly in the aquarium if it is excessively thick. With a cable length of 5.1 feet, ensure the external sensor is positioned above the water pump to prevent the pump from overheating and burning out due to water depletion.
How Does it Work
This automatic top-off system utilizes dual optical sensors to monitor water levels for both low and full conditions, thereby controlling the water pump and solenoid valve accordingly.
Instructions for Use
Useful Tips
Change the Operation Mode: Press and hold the ‘M’ button until the blue light turns yellow to alternate between the water refill and drainage modes.
Flashing Lights and Alarms
All lights flashing and the alarm
- Sensor Calibration Issue: Clean both the ATO monitor sensor and the aquarium. Detach the external sensor and place it horizontally to recalibrate.
- Overfill Protection: Remove the ATO monitor sensor, adjust its position, and clean the aquarium wall.
Installing the Optical Sensor on Transparent Aquarium Walls
- Ensure the ATO system is positioned on a transparent aquarium wall and clean the walls.
- Position the water hose above the water level to prevent siphoning.
- Keep the ATO’s internal sensor clean and avoid disturbances on the water surface, as this can reduce sensor sensitivity and cause malfunctions in water level detection.
- When installing, align the internal and external magnetic suction cups horizontally.
Note:
- Position the sensor in areas free from bubbles and wave action. For normal operation, place it on a calm water surface.
- To temporarily pause the refilling process, press the M button once.
So easy to install. Has a plethora of settings and warnings. It wont let the pump run dry to burn it out and its also great for keeping a tank(or sump) at the same water level
