Quickly light setting
After being out of the box and plugged in, the planted aquarium light turns on in the auto cycle. You can alter the time for the daylight and moonlight cycles. Then place it on top of your aquarium and leave it. The light runs automatically by default setting. However, if you find that the 6:30 am lights on is too early, you can change the time and moonlight preset light color.
hygger 957 Planted Aquarium Lighting features programmable, gradual 24-hour light cycle settings (sunrise, midday, sunset, and night), auto on and off. It can create optimal conditions for your fish and aquarium plants.
Adjustable light color and brightness
There are 10 levels of brightness and 7 different colors in the planted aquarium lighting, which makes it suitable for different light requirements and a wide variety of applications in aquariums.
Sunrise & Sunset functions
The sunrise and sunset function enables the planted light to be easily programmed to slowly turn on or off in 15 minutes, which prevents light shock to fish. The white daylight mode blends the white, red, green, and blue LEDs to produce bright light. Moonlight mode provides 6 single-colored (red, purple, blue, cyan, green, and yellow) and 10 levels of dimmable options. One programmable preset can save customized color combinations and lighting.
IP68 water-resistant rating
No need to worry about splashes or other accidental drops of water. Premium fully encased 1.2 mm thick aluminum shell provides more effective heat transfer and protects the light from humidity and water intrusion.
Directions for Use
1. Do not operate the light appliance if it has a damaged cord or plugs, or a malfunctioning power cord. The power cord of this light cannot be replaced. If the cord is damaged, the appliance should be discarded. Never cut the cord!
2. As one of the best-planted aquarium lights of the hygger, this light can be mounted on any aquarium with a glass thickness of more than 3 mm. The mounting legs help prevent the light from accidentally slipping into the aquarium during maintenance.
3. Do not install or store the aquarium light where it will be exposed to weather or temperatures below freezing. For indoor household use only.
4. If an extension cord is needed, a cord with a proper rating should be used. A cord rated for fewer amperes or watts than the appliance rating may overheat. Care should be taken to arrange the cord so that it will not be tripped over or pulled.
The settings can be a little confusing on setup but it works great for my 10 gal planted tank.
I haven’t had this light for very long. Here is a picture a day after setup, and a week and a half later. It’s easy enough to set the time and let it go through its day/night cycle. However the light does get fairly hot to the touch. Apparently more expensive lights are more expensive because they are equipped with a substantial heat sink, which theoretically prolongs the lifespan of the light. Also, the color of the light, imo, is not extremely beautiful. However I guess cooler lights are better for growing water plants or something? And now after a couple weeks it’s growing on me a bit, it is enjoyable to watch the inhabitants under this light. And I do have a plant that was growing green but is now getting a little red under this light, which indicates that it’s strong enough. So really it’s doing its job, and any other light that had different pros would also have different but equivalent cons.
Updated review: The seller reached out and offered a replacement which I received promptly. I have been using the replacement now for a week or two and it works beautifully. Turns on and off when it should and even has “off” as one of the options as you click through the colors, etc which the last one didnt have. Every time it messed up and did its own thing I would have to unplug it and completely start over. Because of the great customer service and receiving a product that works as stated I have upped my rating to 5 stars.
Original review…it started just doing whatever it wanted. I had it set to turn on slowly over 15 minutes at 7am and to do the same but shutting off the light slowly over 15 minutes at 7pm. It worked great for a short time and then started doing the blue moonlight at 7pm and now the light shuts completely off (no dimming over 15 minutes) at 6:30pm and then turns the blue “moonlight” on at 7pm all of which has also never been set and then off 11:30pm so its literally just doing what it wants when it wants and its been changing daily. I haven’t ever turned it off by unplugging or lost power so its just wonky and not working as it should. For the price it definitely has not been worth it for me.
I was sent the HG957, 72 watt light to test out and review. I matched it up to my existing Fluval 2.0 on my 55 gallon freshwater community tank. It was as bright, if not brighter than the 2.0. This light came with a built in timer, dimming capabilities and 24/7 mode. The timer is programmable to allow for a ramp up and run and then a ramp down to moonlight and off. The rendering index helps to not spook your fish when it comes on and unlike other bright lights it does not hurt your eye or cause them strain. This 24/7 mode has worked out great on my planted tank thus far. I run this alongside my 2.0 and with both lights I don’t have an issues with light spread. The light is impressive and I am not being paid to say anything I have spoke on in this review. For the price point it will tough to find any light that has as many features packed into it. Want to spruce up you tank and make your fishes colors pop, this will get that done and so far my plants are responding well to this light. This is a no brainer when it comes to a full spectrum light for your aquarium. Check out my video review and see for your self.

I love the light I won. I have another tank and I will be upgrading to a Hygger light for that tank also. The light makes the tank look so much better.
