FAQ

For growing freshwater plants, what is the difference between the 999 and 957? Which is better?

For planted tanks, the Hygger 957 aquarium light is better. However, if there are fewer aquatic plants in your tank, the Hygger 999 light is feasible. Aside from that, Hygger 018 full spectrum light is suitable for different planted tanks from 11 to 55 inches long. 1. Does the 957 reset to your saved setting after a power outage or you need to reset it?
Do you need to set all 8 levels from L1 – L8 to program properly or can you just set a few and skip the rest?
Will the 018 clamp fit a rimmed Aqueon aquarium?
So many choices, it’s hard to make up my mind. Need one that a older, non tech-savvy person can program. Any recommendations are greatly appreciated.
    Been looking at the 016, 957, 028, 999 and 978.

    1. Hi Charles Valis,
You need to reset it after power outage.
And you can set a few levels and skip the rest.
The hygger 018 lamp is for tanks from 11 to 55 inches long(less than 0.74in thick).
For an easy set, you can get the 978.

      Thanks

      1. Does the 978 reset after a power outage?
        Thanks

      2. Hi Charles Valis,
After the power outage, the local time of the 978 light will change to 6:30 am. You can just reset the local time.

        Thanks

  2. What is the PAR rating of the:
    957
    018
    24/7
Which light is best suited for a 55 gallon aquarium? Heavily planted with crypts, swords, Java fern and val.
    Thank you

    1. Hello, Charles Valis. Sorry for the late reply.
The PAR rating can be vary from different light power. And the PAR rating of 957 and 018 respectively are 201-420.1 and 141.5-243.3.

As for 24/7, we need to know the model of light.

And the 957 light is best suited for your 55 gallon aquarium. Because the plants you kept need medium to high light, while 957 features a higher PAR value.

      Thanks,
      hygger team

      1. Thank you for the quick reply!

I have a 30 gallon tank with lots of plants with high light requirements (dwarf hairgrass, dwarf baby tear, etc).
What do you recommend for me?

      2. For high light plants, you can choose the hygger 978 light via your tank length, i.e. the 18W light is for 18-24 inches tank, while the 22W light is for 24-30 inches tank, and more.
        Hope it helps.

      3. Hi Jack L,
The hygger 978 light has a PAR range 110.7-212.4.

        Thanks
